Choke cherry trees at All Saints’

Posted under: News

Cathedral cherry treesLandscaping at All Saints!  Being a very urban and very downtown church we do not have much room for landscaping!  However we do our best: we have a strip of earth along the south wall that blooms every summer and recently we have had two new additions to the space on the north west side, a yard we share with the Cathedral Close apartment building.

The new additions are two flowering choke cherry trees, a gift from the Bishop of the Diocese of Edmonton to mark the centennial of the Diocese.  Every parish in the Diocese received a tree.

As we now, since the Feast of Pentecost, and the founding of the parish of St Mark Jieng (the Dinka parish at the Cathedral)  have two parishes at the Cathedral –  we got two trees.

The trees have been planted, and though they are small and rather dwarft by the downtown high rise building, they will grow and take their place proudly in front the of Cathedral.

All Saints’ Edmonton has a Partner Parish in Burundi, and it’s All Saints’ Buyé
